Africa Missions dates back to 1996, when Pastor (Mrs) Folu Adeboye (Visionaire of Africa Missions) went on a visit to mission fields in West Africa. She came back with a burden and the clarion call that the missions desperately needed assistance. This led to the birth of the then ‘West Africa Missions Committee’, a group which focused on assisting mission fields in the West African sub-region alone. The scope of the committee was enlarged in area of reach and focus to include the rest of Africa and community development work for the host communities of the mission fields. This development came as a result of another missionary journey she embarked upon, in 1997, to the Central, Eastern and Southern parts of Africa. Today, the Africa Missions Organisation is a fully fledged faith-based not- for- profit organisation committed to addressing the plight of the less privileged in Africa and around the world through appropriate community development and empowerment initiatives and the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Africa Missions has its corporate headquarters in Nigeria and five chapters in the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Canada, Mainland Europe and the Republic of Ireland. Africa missions relies on the extensive network of the Redeemed Christian Church of God to reach the most unreachable places. As a faith-based international organisation, we are well positioned as an effective and trustworthy vehicle for the transformation of the lives of children, families and communities in the most challenged parts of world, most of which are in Africa. We have a vibrant youth wing whose programs are designed to develop a sense of responsibility in the younger generation and also to tap into their creativity. People often ask what exactly it is we do. Our response is simple; whatever it takes to ensure that there is smooth passage for the light of the gospel to reach communities in Africa, thereby freeing them from the bondage of sin and poverty thereby giving them a better quality of life through interventions that are both relevant and sustainable depending on the needs of the particular community.
